| With light
pressure on the applicator handle, eject the K-Grip into the prepared
groove in an even bead.
Using the leveling square, smooth the
K-Grip into the groove and between the K-Tape, to the depth of the
tape. Remove any excess of K-Grip. (Note: For a lower profile, masking
tape may be used instead of K-Tape).
Remove the K-Tape and masking tape
immediately by pulling upwards and away from the K-Grip strip.
Cure K-Grip using a 2000 watt heatgun
for 10 minutes per lineal feet. Keep the heatgun tip at least 4 inches
away from the K-Grip and please recognize how heat affects the
substrata such as wood vs. metal. The K-Grip will be ready for foot
traffic in approximately 20-40 minutes, depending on the temperature.
To test the hardness, lightly touch a corner. In
higher temperatures, the hardening of the K-Grip will accelerate. In
lower temperatures, the curing will take longer and in extreme
conditions it can take days. Usually without the use of a heatgun the
K-Grip is suitable for foot traffic in 3-8 hours. However, the K-Grip
will not have reached its optimum hardness for 3-8 days (temperature
permitting). After using the
K-Grip, if there is still material in the cartridge, leave the mixing
nozzle in place as a cap to close the K-Grip. To use the opened
cartridge again, remove the old nozzle and apply a new one. Remember
to always eject the first 2" before applying. Always
eject K-Grip in thin even strips before leveling. Large volumes of
K-Grip will harden very quickly! Cleaning
Suggestions: K-Grip is to be
cleaned in the same manner as the substrata it is applied to. Pressure
washing is o.k. if the water is directed to the top of the surface of
the K-Grip and not to the sides of the K-Grip profile. Please
note:
- In exterior areas subject to snow,
ice and rainwater, a perpendicular "weep hole" should be
scored across the K-Grip strip, or K-Grip strips should be
"staggered", to prevent water from pooling and freezing
behind the K-Grip.
- When installed properly, K-Grip
bonds almost permanently to what it is applied to!
K-Grip has extraordinary bonding
capabilities, however, if a portion of the installed profile is
removed it is simple to repair and achieve the original appearance.
Simply repeat the installation instructions using the same color of
K-Grip only for the area removed. The same process can be repeated if
it is necessary at a later time to extend or add to an existing K-Grip
profile. It will perfectly match the existing profile if the material
already in place is clean.
Keep out of reach from children.
Use caution in applying K-Grip!
It cannot be easily removed.
Please wear gloves and protective clothing during installation.
